Welcome to, Monday, September 27th, ciders and juices...
Significant votes are expected in both chambers this week as lawmakers try to avert a government shutdown on Friday.Â
The Senate will take a procedural vote today to advance a bill that would avoid a government shutdown by providing funding for disaster relief and Afghan evacuee resettlement as well as suspending the debt limit until mid-December 2022.Â
Republicans oppose the inclusion of the debt limit suspension in the bill but have signaled a willingness to support a stopgap continuing resolution that includes funding for disaster relief and Afghan resettlement.
