URGENT! HJTA Needs YOU to help us Repeal the Death Tax that was hidden inside Prop. 19

You may have heard the news that the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association has filed a ballot initiative to Repeal the Death Tax that was hidden inside Proposition 19, which narrowly passed in November.

The Repeal the Death Tax Act, officially designated by the attorney general as initiative No. 21-0015, is currently awaiting a title and summary for the circulating petitions. 

HJTA needs at least 500 volunteers who are willing to help us collect signatures on the petitions, as soon as they’re ready for signing.

The Repeal the Death Tax Act will restore the ability of parents and grandparents to pass property to the next generation without triggering reassessment and a huge increase in property taxes. Prop. 19 took away this ability to build inter-generational wealth. HJTA’s Repeal the Death Tax Act will bring it back. (We are not changing the other parts of Prop. 19, which allowed greater freedom to move to a new home and transfer the current home’s tax bill.)

Can we count on your help to collect signatures?

We can’t do it without you. HJTA will have to collect approximately 1.5 million signatures of registered voters between November 1 and April 29 in order to get this measure on the November 2022 ballot.
