John,
Yesterday, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham doubled down on President Trump’s disgraceful comments that compared Congress gathering the facts to a “lynching.” Senator Graham backed him up saying it was “a lynching in every sense.” And Senator Thom Tillis from here in North Carolina? Silent, as usual.
There is no appropriate comparison to the horrible pain lynchings have wrought throughout our nation's history. Senator Graham’s decision to condone President Trump’s painful remarks is unfitting of a U.S. Senator. And Senator Tillis’ silence on the issue is unacceptable.
Our neighbors in South Carolina deserve better than a leader who refuses to condemn these remarks, which is why I’m helping out my friend, Jaime Harrison, who is running against Senator Graham.
John, South Carolinians believe in Jaime’s promise to bring hope and character back to our politics. That’s why the latest polling shows Jaime within single digits of Senator Graham. But he’s going to need your help to build on his momentum.
So, I’m asking: will you split a donation between Jaime Harrison and my campaign to help us send Senators Lindsey Graham and Thom Tillis packing next year? It’s time to finally elect leaders who have the courage to be independent.
President Trump’s use of the word “lynching” was reprehensible. To compare the stain on our nation’s history -- a time when countless African American lives were taken -- to being held accountable for his own actions is beyond comprehension.
Let us be clear: gathering the facts is not a “lynching.” It’s called accountability. And it’s what elected officials are sworn to do when they take the oath of office.
Leaders like Senator Graham and Senator Tillis are not doing their jobs. So, we’re going to make sure they retire next year by sending Jaime and me to the U.S. Senate. Split a donation between our campaigns today >>
Thanks for reading, and thanks for all you do.
