In a moment, I am going to ask you to make a donation to our campaign for Senate in North Carolina. But first, will you give me a chance to explain why this request — especially today — is so important?

After we close the books on our FEC deadline, we’re going to start getting questions from folks. They’ll want to know all about our fundraising numbers, as a way to size up our campaign.

They’ll be looking for not just how much we raise but whether or not we’ve got the grassroots strength to defeat the extreme Republicans in this race.

You see, they know that our opponents will spend and say anything to try to win. Some pundits even question whether Democrats have any chance of holding the Senate majority at all, so it is our job to work together to prove them wrong.

That’s why we are aiming to receive as many individual donations as we can get before this FEC deadline comes to an end. Each one helps us demonstrate that our campaign has the momentum and people power necessary to flip this seat.
