John,
Our country's infrastructure is out of date and failing us. And unlike some lawmakers, it's an issue that Jamaal is intimately familiar with.
In NY-16, infrastructure like streets, bridges, and roads were built over 100 years ago. After Hurricane Ida this summer, our community lost 50 lives due to the storms’ impact. Countless other homes, places of worship, and small businesses were flooded and destroyed. Families are still recovering from the disaster.
The writing on the wall is clearer than ever: We must invest in our infrastructure now with big, bold policy and legislation, and pass the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. Jamaal has been an outspoken advocate for this from the start, and continues to hold accountable and call out establishment politicians like Senator Joe Manchin who hold us back.
No matter what, Jamaal will continue to hold the establishment accountable and bring the progressive perspective to Washington. And John, the stronger third quarter fundraising we can post to the FEC, the more powerful of a message we send to the special interests who are hoping to see our movement lose steam.
Strong fundraising not only allows Jamaal to remain 100% focused on finding the solutions we need, but it also reaffirms to our opponents and the political establishment that our voices are powerful, influential, and here to stay.
Strong fundraising, too, allows us to continue building beyond a congressional campaign. It provides a solid foundation for things like funding voter registration, bolstering volunteer programs and organizing, fundraising for other progressive causes, and so much more.
As our movement continues to grow, we need to keep on building. But in order to do that, we need to hit every single one of our fundraising goals that we've set for this year — especially during such a critical end-of-quarter fundraising month like September.
