I am literally the only one among all of the major Democratic and Republican candidates who has always stood firm in my support for the right to choose.
A few weeks ago, in the dead of night, a group of right-wing Supreme Court justices struck right at the heart of Roe v. Wade, effectively eliminating the right to choose in Texas.
I keep bringing this up because the court is now scheduled to review a case out of Mississippi that could strike down Roe v. Wade completely. If we let them do this, all of our rights are under threat. That is the point of my new Op-ed in the Columbus Dispatch.
We need to protect our constitutional right to choose, which is why I’m running for Senate. I’m unapologetically pro-choice — in fact, I am literally the only one among all of the major Democratic and Republican candidates who has always stood firm in my support for the right to choose.
If you want to see my plan to protect our right to choose, read on. But if you’re already with me and want to help me get to the Senate to put that plan into action, please chip in to my campaign today.
In the Senate, I’ll do everything in my power to stop the Republicans from succeeding further in attacking our basic constitutional rights. I’ll start with these three steps:
- Codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law. There’s already a bill in Congress to do just that, and it has 48 co-sponsors in the Senate -- just three votes shy of a majority. Flipping this Senate seat would move us one step closer to passing that bill and ensuring abortion access at the federal level.
- Eliminating the filibuster. The filibuster is a major roadblock to codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law. This Jim Crow-era relic is allowing extremist Republicans to undermine and circumvent our constitutional rights, so it needs to go.
- Expanding the Supreme Court. The constitution doesn’t specify the size of the Supreme Court. In fact, Congress has changed the number of Supreme Court justices multiple times throughout our nation’s history. We need to give President Joe Biden the opportunity to appoint pro-choice justices who fully represent the majority of the American people.
And that’s just a start. As a senator, I will always protect our right to choose, and you can trust that I will never waver or flip-flop when it comes to protecting and defending this basic constitutional right.
If you’re with me, please make a gift to my campaign today. We can only win this race if grassroots supporters like you pitch in when and where you can.
Thank you,
Morgan Harper
