John,
A little over a month ago, there were 400 cities with Amazon-police surveillance partnerships. Today, there are over 500.1,2
These for-profit surveillance deals between police and Amazon’s doorbell camera company, Ring, pose an immediate threat to you and your neighborhood—and they’re potentially even more invasive than the NSA’s spying programs.
But we’ve found a solution to stop them in their tracks: we’re working with local elected officials to cancel existing partnerships and pass surveillance oversight ordinances to prevent these partnerships in the future. Chip in to expand our local campaigns to more cities.
DONATE
Amazon’s partnerships make a mockery of our democratic process. Many elected officials we’ve contacted were not even aware of the agreements between Amazon and police in their city. Amazon has found the perfect end-run around local elected officials and the community to push through their agenda.
Fight for the Future makes these partnerships public. And then we work with local elected officials to end them. The more partnerships we end, the more Amazon’s partnership business model fails. If we can stop them in enough places, they could drop the program entirely.
We need to work with elected officials in as many cities as possible to permanently stop these partnerships. Donate to spread campaigns to cities throughout the country.
The more funds we can raise, the more cities we can organize to stop Amazon’s surveillance dragnet. Please give what you can and spread the word.
For a surveillance-free future,
Ayele at Fight for the Future
