Did you know that Medicare does not cover long-term care for our senior citizens? Some families are lucky to have the resources necessary to care for their aging loved ones, but most do not. Our seniors deserve dignified, affordable, and comprehensive care. Medicare covers some short-term care—but our system is falling short in ways that are astounding and untenable.

And this issue doesn’t just affect seniors. People with disabilities are not adequately covered either, and families struggle mightily every day to find ways to work full-time while also being caretakers or to afford hiring someone to help.
I hear concerns about long-term care on a daily basis from members of my community in NY-10. A system that doesn’t provide for the long-term care of our loved ones creates emotional and financial burdens that are both costly and unsustainable for the future.
