Otherwise, I want to talk a little bit about the importance of a good team.

When the helicopter I was co-piloting was shot down over Iraq, my Army buddies defended the perimeter to protect me and the other wounded. That’s what you do in the military: you guard the perimeter to safeguard the core of every unit.

I have used that same outlook as a U.S. Senator — I’ve worked hard to protect and serve both my country and my constituents.

It’s also why I believe that we need more veterans in Congress. Veterans approach public service differently than politicians. We're trained to be solution-oriented. Veterans are more likely to put aside differences in pursuit of common goals.

That’s one of the reasons I’m emailing to ask you to support Mark Kelly today.

Mark set a goal of 50,000 donations before this critical, FEC fundraising deadline comes to an end. So I am hoping you can help him — because he needs to to win. He can’t do this alone.
