Friend,

On December 1, the Supreme Court will hear a case concerning a Mississippi abortion law, posing a direct threat to Roe v. Wade and abortion rights across the country.

While the Supreme Court ruled to allow the Texas abortion ban on its so-called “shadow docket,” the Mississippi law will be the first abortion case the Court hears directly since Trump and McConnell cemented a 6-3 majority with Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

With the Supreme Court stacked with three conservative justices appointed by Donald Trump, Mississippi’s Republican attorney general and legions of anti-choice, right-wing extremists are lobbying the justices to overturn almost 50 years of legal precedent.

It’s more crucial than ever that Congress codifies Roe v. Wade to once and for all protect women’s safe and equal access to abortion. And it’s going to take a lot of hard work to make that happen.

As the only Senator who’s worked at Planned Parenthood, I’m doing everything I can to speak out on these extremist laws and ensure we spare no expense in electing a pro-choice, Democratic Senate majority next fall.

Can you chip in right now to fuel my fight protecting Roe v. Wade? It’s crucial we have the necessary resources to fight back against the GOP’s unfettered attacks on reproductive rights and defend our Senate majority across the map.

Earlier this month, Texas successfully enacted the most restrictive abortion law of recent decades. It not only bans women from receiving an abortion after 6 weeks but also rewards private citizens with a $10,000 bounty for suing anyone who helps someone receive an abortion.

A Texas doctor, Alan Braid, is already being sued for nobly stepping forward and admitting to providing an “illegal” abortion underneath the restrictive law because he believed the woman had “a fundamental right to receive this care.”

Dr. Braid’s courage is exceptionally moving considering the personal risk he’s taking on by speaking out for reproductive justice.

It’s simply terrifying that in today’s world a doctor can be sued for acting on their fundamental duty — helping patients make basic healthcare decisions in their best interests.

We need to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act which codifies Roe v. Wade into law and protects against potential challenges and lawsuits. It’s our best shot at stopping the GOP’s state-led efforts to strip away reproductive rights and make Roe v. Wade virtually meaningless.

However, it’s highly unlikely we’ll be able to pass this transformative bill with Mitch McConnell filibustering every piece of legislation that comes across his desk.

Here’s what we need to do:

First, we need to protect and expand our slim, pro-choice Democratic majorities in the midterm elections. Then, we can abolish the filibuster, expand the Supreme Court, and implement the Women’s Health Protection Act.

Can you pitch in right now to support my work protecting and expanding our Democratic majorities? It’s going to take determination and hard work to codify Roe v. Wade but I’m confident with your support we can achieve it.

We’re going to face several battles in the upcoming months, and I’m going to need you by my side like you’ve always been.

Our grassroots team successfully defeated Donald Trump in 2020 and kept Minnesota’s Senate seat blue. But now, we have to keep the momentum going to protect and expand our Democratic majorities in 2022. I know with you on our side, we can do just that.
