When Hurricane Ida tore through New Jersey just a few weeks ago, we paused all our grassroots fundraising efforts for 2 weeks. Our neighbors were hurting, and I wanted to make sure that we were doing all we could to put them first.

My team and I spent those 2 weeks helping people hit hardest by the storm access the necessary resources and support to rebuild their lives. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It’s what I was elected to do.

But this puts us in a bind with just 5 days left until the end of the quarter when we'll report all of our fundraising to the FEC.

The devastation from Hurricane Ida made clear the urgency with which we must confront the climate crisis. There’s no denying that the climate crisis is here, right on our doorstep.

I’m proud of the work that my Democratic colleagues and I have done to place investments in climate in the groundbreaking infrastructure bill and the transformative $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package.

I’m just as proud of the real, profound changes we were able to make in Americans’ lives when we passed the American Rescue Plan Act — lifting three million children out of poverty in July alone, and more since, thanks to the expanded Child Tax Credit.

But let me be clear, I’m under no illusion. Republicans will aim to stop us at every turn. After all, the American Rescue Plan Act passed without a single GOP vote — and they’re still trying to take credit for it!

Your support not only helps me work hard for the people of New Jersey but helps our efforts to protect and expand our majority in the Senate. Keeping our majority is crucial to addressing the climate crisis, protecting reproductive rights, and expanding access to health care and child care.
