Hi John – To many families around the world, the United States is a land of opportunity. A nation where parents can work to provide for their loved ones. A place where kids can grow up healthy, educated and safe. That’s the life thousands of Haitian asylum-seekers were pursuing when they journeyed to the U.S. But instead of finding refuge here, they’re facing deportation. There have even been shocking reports of adults and children facing inhumane treatment upon arrival to the U.S. Countless families are suffering following the major earthquake that devastated Haiti just last month. Adults and children are living among wreckage without health care, food or clean water. In response to the increased numbers of Haitian asylum-seekers arriving at the Southern border, the Biden Administration has used the Trump-era Title 42 policy to ramp up deportations to Haiti. Thousands of children and families are being sent on daily US-government sponsored flights to a country where they are likely to be in danger. John, our nation’s response to the plight of Haitian families is shameful and heartbreaking. Ask President Biden to end deportation flights immediately and ensure all asylum-seekers are treated legally and with dignity. When we deport these asylum-seekers, we’re returning them to a nation that’s struggling to recover in the face of destruction and political upheaval. This is no way to treat families in need – especially children seeking safety. Send a message to President Biden: it’s time to end deportation flights, revoke Title 42 and do everything in our power to help asylum-seeking families and children. Thank you for being a voice for kids, |
