Mayor Pete Buttigieg is in hot water with progressives. At last week’s Democratic presidential debate in Ohio, he attacked Senator Elizabeth Warren for refusing to say whether her preferred brand of health reform, Medicare for All, would require middle-class tax hikes.

Soon after, a year-old tweet from the South Bend, Indiana, mayor resurfaced, in which he pledged his support for Medicare for All.

Going forward, both near-term and long-term changes are necessary. In the near-term, it is unconscionable that Medicare patients are being denied a more efficacious treatment that will actually reduce overall health care expenditures. In fact, due to its efficacy, virtually every Medicaid and commercial insurer in America currently covers Auryxia for iron deficiency anemia in CKD patients. Consequently, CMS should restore Medicare Part D coverage for Auryxia®.

A U.S. Senate-commissioned analysis by a cybersecurity firm released last December found that Russia’s infamous troll factory, the Internet Research Agency (IRA), is conducting “relentless modern information warfare.”
