Right now in America, veterans are facing a firearm suicide crisis, with veterans using firearms more than any other means of suicide. In fact, an estimated 17 veterans die by suicide every day, 12 of which is by gun suicide — a suicide rate that is one and a half times the rate for non-veteran adults.
We launched Service Never Stops to encourage the veteran community to store their firearms securely to protect themselves and their loved ones.
We know that firearms are by far the most lethal method of suicide, especially among the veteran community. But by safely and securely storing firearms — locked, unloaded, and away from ammunition — we can delay access to a highly lethal weapon in a moment of crisis. Here are two more ways you can help prevent gun suicide:

She is remembered as a hero for charging the shooter to protect her colleagues and for a lifetime of service to her family and community.
