Today, our Health Department announced that we are starting to provide boosters for those who received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and are eligible.

These boosters will be available for people who received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine at least 6 months ago and also are:

- age 65 and older,
- a resident of a long term care facility,
- someone with an underlying medical condition,
- or someone with high institutional or occupational risk.

Those with high occupational risks include healthcare workers, first responders, teachers and daycare staff, grocery workers and workers in homeless shelters or prisons.

If you received your second Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago and meet one of these criteria, please visit MyTurn.ca.gov <[link removed]> to schedule an appointment to receive your booster.

Long Beach has been hailed as a national model for equitable and efficient vaccine distribution, and as we begin to roll out boosters, we are committed to making sure that everyone eligible is able to receive one.

We are working to expand appointments to accommodate boosters as well as those getting their first and second doses.

We will share information about boosters for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines when it becomes available.

All three options for the COVID-19 vaccine, Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson, remain safe and effective. It is critical for everyone 12 and older to get vaccinated against COVID.
