Friend: Aided by the conservative majority of justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, the most restrictive ban on abortions in the country was allowed to go into effect in Texas. Overnight, the 48-year legal precedent of Roe v. Wade was effectively overturned – and at least ten Republican-led states have pledged to follow Texas' lead. They know this is not legal, so they are attempting guerilla tactics to get around the law.

In fact, a lawsuit has already been filed by a disbarred, convicted attorney from Arkansas - who admits to the $10,000 bounty being his motivation – against a medical professional in Texas. Others have followed suit. Is vigilante justice going to be our new normal?

Federal inaction is no longer an option. Congress must intervene urgently to protect the future of reproductive justice.

Thankfully, the House has already taken a major step to enshrine women's healthcare into law: The House just passed the companion legislation to my bill, the Women's Health Protection Act, to protect safe, legal abortion care no matter what courts or right-wing state lawmakers try to do. Today, I need you to join me in urging the Senate to do the same.

Now, we know the realities of what we're working with: Democratic Senate control is maintained by the tie-casting vote of Vice President Harris, and Republicans are able to wield the filibuster to block meaningful legislation from moving forward. But there is simply too much on the line for Democrats to let an arcane Senate rule stand in the way of safe reproductive healthcare for millions of Americans. To protect the right to choose, the filibuster must be eliminated.

Friend, you may have spoken out once, twice, dozens of times before. Moments like this – where Roe v. Wade's precedent could evaporate before our eyes – demand that we keep speaking out. I simply cannot pass the Women's Health Protection Act without your grassroots activism. So before 11:59 p.m. tonight, I'm counting on you and 750 members of this team to make their voices heard.
