John, since joining Congress in January, Cori has worked every day to transform our politics and save lives:
When Congress recessed back in August without extending the eviction moratorium, Cori refused to see millions of people at risk of losing their homes and safety during a pandemic. She stayed outside the Capitol for five days, and together, we won a new eviction moratorium from the Biden Administration.
And when the right-wing Supreme Court blocked the new eviction moratorium on August 26, Cori didn't despair — she got back to work. As someone who was previously unhoused, Cori understands how high the stakes are, so she set out to find a new solution to keeping people housed.
On Tuesday, Cori and Senator Elizabeth Warren introduced the Keeping Renters Safe Act of 2021 to give the Department of Health and Human Services the permanent authority to implement eviction moratoriums during public health crises. This bill will leave no doubt that eviction moratoriums are lawful — and necessary — while the COVID-19 pandemic continues to harm our communities.
While some Members of Congress ignored this pressing crisis and went on their August recess, Cori couldn't look away. She's been leading this fight for months — and isn't letting anyone get in her way. But the truth is Cori can't do this work alone, John.
All of Cori's legislating and organizing work is powered by everyday people like you. Can you make a $5 donation right now so Cori can take on more big challenges in Congress and continue working to address the housing crisis in our country?
It's more clear than ever: We need Cori in Congress.
Cori knows it's not enough to just talk about change, John. We must do the hard, often incremental work to make our country more just one step at a time.
Together, we will keep organizing and mobilizing to make sure everyone has a roof over their heads, quality health care, healthy food to eat, and clean air to breathe.
Are you ready to lead with us for this future, John? Please chip in $5 or anything you can to power Cori's work in Congress and show your support for bold, progressive change.
In solidarity,
Team Cori
