In a time when Scripture’s call to be repairers of the breach, ambassadors of reconciliation, and co-laborers with Christ has become controversial, come join like-minded peers who are intent on learning how privilege can become a subversive tool leveraged to engender deeper kingdom participation, needed social transformation, and missional innovation.
In 1967 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. prophetically declared, “If the church does not recapture its prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority.” This learning community provides tools both to help recapture the church’s prophetic zeal and equip you to address difficult conversations through biblical discipleship.
Sessions focus on application, contextualization, and transformation. They unpack where and how Scripture affirms that privilege is real and explore how we can acknowledge and faithfully steward privilege within ministerial contexts. Missionally, we are commissioned to leverage privilege to further the kingdom and love our neighbors sacrificially, and this learning community focuses on how we achieve this.
This four-part learning community will be led by Dominique Gilliard, using his latest book "Subversive Witness: Scripture’s Call to Leverage Privilege" as the guiding text.
Participants will meet via Zoom on October 19, October 26, November 2 and November 16 from 3-4:30 PM ET and should read the book "Subversive Witness" prior to the first session.
Price for participating is just $39 for Friends Network members ($49 for regular admission).
