Setting Sights on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Families in Transition is embarking on a new initiative; one where we strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion in all that we do. We know that we need to become more diverse and welcome a variety of perspectives to better serve our participants. We believe that raising awareness around this initiative will assure our employees, volunteers, and participants that they can be their unique and authentic selves.

Celebrating the End of an Annual Halloween Tradition
We have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Wicked FIT Run and are sad to report that we will not be hosting the event in 2021 or beyond. It made it an even tougher decision knowing that this year we would have been celebrating the 10th Annual Wicked FIT Run. Over the years, the event has grown to be a family favorite in the Concord area. Our programs in Concord continue to be strong, currently supporting families and individuals in our affordable housing units and rapid rehousing programs.

September is Recovery Month
National Recovery Month (Recovery Month) is a national observance held every September to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and community members across the nation who make recovery in all its forms possible. Our Willows team will be hosting a table at the Rally4Recovery this Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Manchester from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Come see us, or visit our website to learn more about our substance use treatment programs and services : [link removed]

Under Development! New Permanent Supportive Housing
We've started construction at our location on Union Street in Manchester, formerly known as Angie’s Shelter for Women. The building will be repurposed to offer 11 affordable housing units for people exiting homelessness. Development plans include converting the building into seven studio apartments and four one-bedroom apartments, each with their own bathroom and kitchen. Long-term success will be aided by case management and supportive services.

Volunteer Role Highlight: Shelter Program Support
Work alongside our shelter staff to help support the Families in Transition emergency shelters and transitional living programs. This is a great opportunity to work directly with our participants especially if you are interested in or have experience with Human Services. Responsibilities may include: encouraging community building and providing opportunities for social interaction and activities, providing a consistent and supportive presence for individuals and families to access support, light cleaning, or general kitchen duties. Training will be provided and background checks will be required. If you’re interested in a volunteer opportunity like this, sign up and be be the first to know about these new opportunities later this fall!
