Dear Friends,
Farm Aid 2021 is TOMORROW! The excitement is growing at Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut. We're putting the final touches on the HOMEGROWN Village and the HOMEGROWN Concessions® menu, and starting sound checks on the stage. If you’re joining us tomorrow make sure that you are ready with your vaccination card or proof of negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 48 prior to entering the venue. More information about our COVID safety policies can be found here [[link removed]]. If you still need your test, you can schedule a rapid test on-site before you enter the gates for the festival.
If you won't be here with us tomorrow for Farm Aid 2021, you can still be a part of the excitement!
Here are ways to join from home:
And, here's a step-by-step guide to a stellar Farm Aid festival!
Get all the day's details with the Farm Aid 2021 app: Download the Farm Aid 2021 app for iPhone and Android [[link removed]] to create your personal schedule for the day; find out where you're going with the festival map; check out the HOMEGROWN Concessions® food and drink offerings; explore activities offered in the HOMEGROWN Village; and learn about some local Farmer Heroes.
Get your hands dirty: With dozens of exhibitors, the HOMEGROWN Village [[link removed]] is where you can celebrate and engage in the culture of agriculture. From noon to 5:00pm, find food and farm activities, art projects and games. Discover how to forage plants found in your backyard, make hot sauce, learn about soil health, play “Ag Jeopardy,” and visit many different exhibits and demos throughout the day. Also, check out our FarmYard Stage, where farmers and artists will discuss pressing issues and share inspiring stories showcasing food and farming in the region and across the country.
Meet a Farmer: We're here to celebrate family farmers and they're all around you at Farm Aid 2021! Look for people wearing the pass marked “Farmer,” enjoy their food at HOMEGROWN Concessions®, and hear from them on the FarmYard stage.
Eat HOMEGROWN: We're proud to offer family farm food throughout the venue. Our HOMEGROWN Concessions® [[link removed]] will serve food that's sustainably produced by family farmers who received a fair price for their products. Menu items will showcase Connecticut and the region’s outstanding farms. Menu items include local fish, crispy oyster tostadas, beet sandwiches and portobello burgers, stuffed sweet potatoes with local smoked beef brisket, and pretzels made with organic flour. We hope you’re hungry, because that’s just a small taste of our menu (check out the entire menu here [[link removed]])! Even if you’re not in Hartford to celebrate with us in person, you can experience a little HOMEGROWN taste at home, with this recipe from our friends at Lundberg Family Farms [[link removed]].
Make Soil: We're passionate about composting and recycling. All of our packaging and utensils can go right into the compost bin. Blue Earth Compost from Hartford, Connecticut, will haul service ware and food scraps to create compost that will sustain soil and future crops.
Wear the mission on your T-shirt: Take home a Farm Aid t-shirt made with organic cotton and screen-printed at Mirror Image in Rhode Island, a longtime Farm Aid partner and a union shop. Check out our online store [[link removed]] today and show off your farm fresh style!
Chat with a volunteer: So many folks donate their time to pitch in and create an incredible Farm Aid experience for all festivalgoers. Our team in the volunteer t-shirts are ready to help out in any way!
Eat some crunchy apples at the HOMEGROWN Youthmarket [[link removed]]: It's a farm stand run by young people who care about agriculture. This year they'll be selling seasonal Eco-certified fruit from Rogers Orchards. The youth organizations include New Britain ROOTS, The Grange, and Hartford County 4-H Extension.
Support the mission: We can't do our work without you! Make a donation at one of our donation booths (or right here online) [[link removed]] and show family farmers you stand with them. Give $75 or more to get the official Farm Aid 2021 logo shirt made with organic cotton!
Have fun and spread the word: Tell your friends and family about your Farm Aid experience by posting about #farmaid2021 and your #Road2FarmAid on social media.
