John,

Seven years ago, I wasn't thinking about school shootings. I was worrying about whether my boys, Jake and Dylan, had their book bags packed and got to school on time each morning.

But on Dec. 14, 2012, I sent both of my sons to Sandy Hook Elementary, and only one came home. That was the day I truly woke up: the day my beautiful 6-year-old boy would never wake up again.

Now I spend every minute worrying about how to protect children from gun violence – and working as hard as I can to expand our gun violence prevention programs to thousands more schools to make sure no other parent has to go through this unbearable pain. I'll never see my little Dylan again. I know that. But I refuse to accept that gun violence is just the price of living in America.

If we don't secure every dollar of a generous match by Friday though, I'm afraid we won't be able to work fast enough to prevent the next Sandy Hook. I can't bear the thought of that, John. We're still $128,245 short of our match goal with just two days to go, so will you please donate now to have your gift doubled to help us protect more children from gun violence?

Please rush $10, or as much as you can, to Sandy Hook Promise right now. Your donation before this match expires on Friday will go twice as far toward helping protect more children from gun violence.

My eyes were opened to gun violence on the day my beautiful butterfly Dylan was murdered. I'm determined to build a legacy for him by protecting other children from gun violence, so thank you for helping make that possible.

With love,

Nicole Hockley (Dylan's mom)
