Dear Friend,
For decades, the old growth trees in the Tongass National Forest have been under threat. “The lungs of our country” weren’t fully protected from logging and development – despite holding over 40% of the carbon stored by all U.S. national forests.
But Earthjustice and our community of supporters fought for the Tongass and refused to back down. With your help, we successfully advocated for protection of the Tongass’ ancient trees, eliminating large-scale old growth logging across all 17 million acres of the forest and halting three old growth harvests in their tracks.
We’ve seen just how powerful the law can be in protecting old growth forests, so we’re not stopping here. We’re continuing to advocate for the most carbon-rich forests in the nation – starting with the Pacific Northwest’s old growths – and we need you to join in the fight.
Friend, this Climate Week, I’m asking you to make a monthly commitment to Earthjustice. There is no better time to give – your first 12 months of support will be matched $2:$1.

Protecting mature and old growth trees in the carbon-rich forests of the Pacific Northwest is one of the single biggest steps we can take to quickly address climate change. If these trees are logged, the resulting carbon emissions would be catastrophic.
You can make a difference for these forests and for the future of our climate, Friend. Will you partner with us by signing up for a monthly gift today?
Your monthly gift means we can plan strategically and take on the biggest legal and advocacy projects with confidence. I hope you’ll consider making this commitment to protect old growth forests at a pivotal moment for the future of our climate.
Sincerely,
Blaine Miller-McFeeley
Senior Legislative Representative
