In the 1,006 days since President Trump took office, we’ve counted 2,565 conflicts of interest related to his business interests.
And now, you can follow along on our new live conflicts tracker, which will allow you to see up-to-date details of President Trump’s conflicts of interest. Want to know how many times President Trump has visited his own businesses at the expense of the American taxpayer? Our conflicts tracker will tell you (as of today, he’s visited his businesses 387 times since being sworn into office). Curious how many foreign officials have visited a Trump business in the same period? By today’s count it’s 123.
For details on all these conflicts and more, visit our new live conflicts tracker, and share on Facebook or Twitter. Trump’s corruption is the defining feature of his presidency, and our tracker quantifies it.
In the last few months, we’ve seen some stunning examples of conflicts of interest and corruption. Just last week, acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney announced that the 2020 G-7 Summit would be held at Trump’s Doral golf resort, only for President Trump to reverse course on this shockingly corrupt decision two days later, in the face of intense public pressure. In early September, Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Ireland, and stayed at Trump’s Doonbeg resort, on the other side of the country from his meetings in Dublin, costing taxpayers $600,000 in limos alone. And later in September, the White House released a summary of the July 25th phone call in which President Trump pressured Ukrainian President Zelensky to investigate his political rival. During the call, Zelensky mentioned that he had stayed at one of President Trump’s properties on a recent visit to New York, highlighting one of the ways President Trump’s business interests can be used to attempt to gain his favor.
All these examples and more are tracked in our dynamic tracker, which makes all the original conflicts research we’ve been doing since the start of the Trump presidency more accessible and the story of the President’s unending corruption more powerful.
We hope you’ll find it useful as we continue to work together to hold President Trump accountable for his corruption, abuse of power, and deeply troubling conflicts of interest.
Thank you,
