Friend,
The 2020 wildfire season in
California was our state’s largest on record -- and right now, 2021 is
set to outpace it.
Since January, over 7,500 fires have been
recorded which, combined, have burned an area larger than the Grand
Canyon. Drought and extreme heat have contributed to the severity of
this year’s wildfire season, and by all estimates, the worst may be
yet to come.
Californians are on the frontlines of devastating
wildfires, and we’re on the frontlines of climate change as it wreaks
havoc on our environment, our economy, and our way of life. But urgent
problems require urgent solutions, which is why I’m committed to
taking up the fight for a healthier, more sustainable planet.

California is already leading
the nation in effective and ambitious climate policy, from pioneering
clean technology to regulating emissions standards to setting a carbon
neutrality mandate by 2045, and more. And in Congress, I’m proud to
build on that progress by leading on issues of environmental
protection and animal welfare, including supporting a Green New
Deal.
Whether it’s wildfires in California, droughts in the
Northwest, hurricanes in the South, or flooding along the East Coast,
climate change is already impacting all of our lives, and we have to
meet this moment with courage, boldness, and determination. If
you agree, can I count on you to fight on the frontlines with
me?
Best, Ted
