Hi John,

Ted Cruz is really embarrassing himself. The Senate held a hearing on voting rights, and Cruz asked experts whether voter ID laws are racist. The experts shut him down.

Here is our favorite excerpt:

Ted Cruz: “What voter ID laws are racist?”

Professor Franita Tolson: “Apologies Mr. Cruz, your state of Texas, perhaps.”

The entire exchange can be seen here.

Unfortunately, laughing at Ted Cruz won’t stop the racist effects of the voter ID laws. However, grassroots organizing will.

Will you chip in $25 to help our grassroots organizing program to overturn racist voter ID laws like the ones we see in Texas?

Voter ID laws disproportionately suppress Black and brown voters, which is the main reason Republicans support these regulations. We’re organizing to mitigate the effects of these laws and mobilize voters to get to the ballot box. And we need to elect people who will reverse these racist laws. Can we count on your support to achieve these goals?

Thank you,

------------

Vote From Home is a grassroots movement that's fighting to expand vote-by-mail. We helped thousands of Democrats vote safely from home in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Now we're focused on stopping politicians and legislation who are making it harder for Americans to vote by mail.
