Ever since CVS Health made a $5 million donation to the number one
dark-money group fighting Medicare for All, we’ve taken every opportunity
to hold them accountable.^1

The company gave a statement when reached for comment by a reporter last
week in response to our pressure, and that’s one way that we know our
efforts are working. 

This past weekend, hundreds of activists and nurses in 27 states took
action at CVS locations across the country as part of our National Day of
Action to demand that they stop funding anti-Medicare for All efforts. We
brought CVS style “receipts” with the names of thousands of activists
standing with us.

Over the last several months, we launched a massive social media campaign
to expose CVS’ efforts to block health care reform, collected over 30,000
petition signatures, drove hundreds of calls to their corporate
headquarters during their annual shareholder meeting, and took action at
hundreds of stores in 27 states. 

After this mobilization of pressure, CVS Health gave our movement a
response – and it’s clear they’re feeling the heat.

"The Partnership for America’s Health Care Future (PAHCF) is a coalition
whose stated mission is to build on and improve what's working, where
private coverage, Medicare and Medicaid work together to expand access
to coverage and care. CVS Health is not currently funding the PAHCF."

They’re trying to cover their tracks when we know that CVS Health made a
$5 million donation to PAHCF just last year. That feels pretty “current”
to us. 

If CVS Health felt the need to respond publicly to our months of pressure,
we know we’ve hit a vulnerable point. Now more than ever, we need all
hands on deck to demand that CVS stops pouring millions of dollars to
block desperately needed health care reform.
