Over a decade ago, President Obama signed a law to enact a Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which would provide student debt cancellation after 10 years of on-time payments and work either in government or for a public service non-profit.
Here’s the problem: 98% of the folks who applied after 10 years of working hard and playing by what they believed to be the rules were rejected. When you’ve got a 98% rejection rate, the problem is with the program design, not the applicants.
Right now, President Biden’s Department of Education is taking public comments about how to fix the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. We have one more day to make our voices heard!
