Mercy Corps teams are helping meet immediate needs and build long-term
solutions.

Dear Friend,
As I write this email, my beautiful home country, the Democratic Republic
of Congo (DRC), is experiencing multiple crises: a recent volcanic
eruption that damaged Goma’s water supply, rising cases of the COVID-19
Delta variant, and food insecurity and conflict exacerbated by the climate
crisis.
Our teams in the DRC are coordinating emergency relief,
but we need reliable, consistent funding and resources to build long-term
solutions to the complex issues we face. Monthly givers provide sustained
support when and where it’s needed most.

"I am proud to be an outreach worker and the first Mercy Corps
responder in the community."
AIMERANCE WABINGWA, DRC
When Mercy Corps responds to a crisis situation, we aren’t working alone.
We join with people like Aimerance Wabingwa, a healthcare worker and
member of her community action group in the DRC. Prior to the COVID-19
pandemic, Mercy Corps trained Aimerance and others to advocate for disease
prevention during the DRC’s Ebola outbreaks, and worked to identify what
families needed to stay safe, like clean water and hygiene education.
But the community’s access to clean water was cut off
when the Mount Nyiragongo volcano erupted without warning earlier this
year. With support from generous givers and our global community of
donors, Mercy Corps is meeting immediate drinking water needs for more
than 30,000 people, averting a secondary, water-borne disease crisis. Our
teams are also working with the community on a permanent solution:
rebuilding the water network in Goma.
This is just one example of how our teams respond to immediate needs and
support long-term efforts. [ [link removed] ]Your monthly support can help Mercy
Corps carry out this kind of work in communities where it’s needed most.
Will you become a monthly giver today?
With your support we can be in a better position to respond quickly when
crises strike — and stay for as long as our help is needed.
Thank you,
