I’m Travis, Cheri Beasley’s campaign manager. I wanted to take a second to reach out myself to talk about why I joined Cheri’s campaign. I’m pumped to be on this team with you because I know that, together, we have what it takes to turn North Carolina blue.

I’ve been part of tough races in North Carolina before. I call this my adopted home state. So I’ll be honest with you: this is going to be tough. But I joined this team because I believe that Cheri is Democrats’ best hope to flip this seat.

It takes an experienced and tested candidate to win statewide in North Carolina, and no one is better prepared than Cheri. Her career is a testament to blazing trails, defying odds and securing justice.

When she ran for office the first time, her opponent said that Cheri couldn’t win because she was a mom. She won by 30 points. She went on to become the first African American woman to ever win statewide without first being appointed.

And in this race, she’s the only Democrat who has ever won statewide — and the only candidate to do it twice. (Thank you, Pat McCrory.)

Now, I wouldn’t be a good campaign manager if I didn’t take this opportunity to make an ask:

With the FEC deadline days away, we’re laser-focused on closing out this quarter as strongly as possible. If you can, will you consider pitching in $5, $25 or whatever makes sense for you to help us elect Cheri? [[link removed]]

Winning this race is possible. The Cook Political Report calls it one of three toss-ups, and CNN has said it is one of the most likely Senate seats to flip. CNN’s analysis specifically said that a diverse candidate like Cheri was a major reason why this race was on the board for Democrats.

So we need to put our all into electing Cheri Beasley and expanding Democrats’ majority. A win here can change what’s possible in the Senate — securing meaningful change and progress for working people across North Carolina and the country.
