Republican Governors Urge White House Border Action
President Biden and his administration have failed to enforce border
laws, resulting in an ongoing migrant crisis that Republican governors
have been left to clean up. Without the federal government doing its
duty, the number of illegal border crossings has grown drastically.Â
* Republican governors have had enough. In a letter to President Biden,
26 of them called out
the administration's failures, requested an immediate meeting with the
president, and urged the White House to finally take action: Â
"While governors are doing what we can, our Constitution requires that
the President must faithfully execute the immigration laws passed by
Congress. Not only has the federal government created a crisis, it has
left our states to deal with challenges that only the federal government
has a duty to solve.
...
A crisis that began at our southern border now extends beyond to every
state and requires immediate action before the situation worsens."
* The statistics for August show
just how bad this crisis has become. Last month, there were 208,887
migrant encounters at the border - a 317% increase from the same time
last year.Â
The Biden Administration, with its open borders policies, has
effectively abandoned the nation's governors, leaving them to deal
with this crisis alone. The president is fully capable of stepping up to
secure the border, yet he refuses. Enough is enough. Â
Red States Take Action Over Biden's Vaccine Mandate
Widespread pushback against President Biden's vaccine mandate for
companies with over 100 employees is continuing, and red states across
the country are threatening legal action.
* While many liberals rushed to say the vaccine mandate would be
popular when it was announced, the polls are telling a different story.
A new Quinnipiac poll
,
for example, shows that 51% of Americans disapprove of President
Biden's vaccine mandate plan for government and private businesses.Â
*
In a letter to the Biden Administration, Republican attorney generals
from 24 states threatened to sue
if the mandate goes into effect:Â
"Your vaccine mandate represents not only a threat to individual
liberty, but a public health disaster that will displace vulnerable
workers and exacerbate a nationwide hospital staffing crisis, with
severe consequences for all Americans."
* Following Gov. Doug Ducey's sharp criticism
after President Biden's initial announcement of the mandate, Arizona
became the first state
to actually file a lawsuit against the administration. Attorney General
Mark Brnovich:Â
"The federal government cannot force people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Biden Administration is once again flouting our laws and precedents
to push their radical agenda."
* Instead of listening to the states, however, President Biden has
punished them
by cutting state supplies of life-saving monoclonal antibody treatments.
After Florida's supply was cut in half, Christina Pushaw - a
spokeswoman for Gov. Ron Desantis - slammed the White House:
"It is regrettable that the Biden administration would play politics
with people's lives during a pandemic by withholding a life-saving
treatment and providing mixed messages to Americans."
Expect even more lawsuits as red states push back against President
Biden's attempts to restrict individual freedoms - despite any White
House retaliation.
President Biden Struggling in Polls
Amidst major policy failures and multiple ongoing crises, Americans are
losing confidence in President Biden to lead and unite the country.
Multiple new polls show that voters on both sides of the aisle blame the
president for recent failures and believe the country is less united now
than when he was elected.Â
* A Fox News poll
shows that Americans think the country is less united under President
Biden by a 54-37 percent margin.
*
According to the same Fox News poll, just 45% of likely voters would
describe President Biden as a strong leader - down from 49% last fall.
*
One thing that a large majority of Americans are united on, however, is
their views about President Biden's botched U.S. withdrawal from
Afghanistan. According to the most recent Rasmussen Reports
survey, 70% agreed that the withdrawal was a "national
humiliation."Â
It is clear that President Biden's poor leadership is only further
dividing the country. While the political impact may not yet be known,
more Americans continue to turn against a president characterized by
major failures.
