To Congress:
The pandemic shows no signs of ending, making clear how important health care is to every single American. Congress must act now to pass the Build Back Better investment agenda to fix our broken health care system. We demand you vote YES on expanding Medicaid and Medicare, and lowering prescription drug prices for millions of Americans!

John,
In just a few days, the House will vote on the Build Back Better plan. This historic legislation would expand Medicare to include dental, hearing, and vision and lower drug prices. But that's not all! It would ensure we have robust funding for home and community-based care and expand Medicaid in 12 states that were left out by governors who were trying to sabotage the Affordable Care Act.

As we’re driving thousands of letters and calls to Congress, corporate interests are hard at work attempting to kill the bill. Big Pharma has launched a massive lobbying blitz opposing key health care provisions of the Build Back Better Act―provisions that would empower Medicare to negotiate drug prices and significantly reduce prescription drug costs.
Moderates in the House who have threatened to derail the Build Back Better Act have collected almost $1.2 million in contributions from Big Pharma. We can't let corporate donors beat us! Congress must pass all health care provisions of the Build Back Better Act.

If passed in full, the Build Back Better Act would :
-
Lower prescription drug prices. The plan gives Medicare the authority to negotiate drug prices.
-
Strengthen Medicare. The bill expands Medicare by including coverage for dental, vision, and hearing.
-
Invest in home and community-based care services. These important services provide dignity to seniors and people with disabilities and allow Americans to live at home in their communities.
-
Provide health care to low-income Americans in 12 states. Closing the Medicaid coverage gap means more than 2.2 million Americans would finally gain access to health insurance. These are Americans who make too little to be eligible for the ACA but are ineligible for Medicaid because their state has refused to adopt Medicaid expansion.
-
Lower health insurance premiums. This would make permanent the boost to income-based tax subsidies that lower Affordable Care Act (ACA) premiums. The subsidies benefit about 9 million people and will otherwise expire in 2022.

The next few days are incredibly consequential to the fate of our Build Back Better investment agenda. Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of working families, the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
