Climate crime scene

Dear John,

Will you help us tackle the biggest eco-crime no one’s ever heard of?

Across Europe, the illegal trade in hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) is soaring. These cooling gases are super pollutants that can be thousands of times more harmful to the climate than the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide.

The legal supply of these gases is being restricted, but as legitimate supplies shrink, climate criminals are stepping in.

Please donate today to support our undercover investigations and help us stop irreparable damage to our planet.

Thanks to our generous donors, our investigations have revealed the extent of this hazardous black market trade. We’ve discovered the methods used to smuggle these gases into Europe and have identified some of the key companies and criminals involved.

One smuggler even told us that he secretly transports pressurised cylinders of HFCs in the luggage compartments of passenger coaches.

By supporting us, you can help us expose this chilling eco-crime, lobby for harsher penalties for offenders, and help speed up cuts to super pollutants.
