There's been a major development from the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection: Rep. Adam Schiff has said the committee is going "straight to subpoenas" to compel witness testimony – meaning those close to or in communication with former President Donald Trump could be forced to testify.

This comes on the heels of bombshell revelations that one of Trump's closest advisors, Steve Bannon, played a critical role in Jan. 6 and told Trump it was "the moment for reckoning" for overturning the election – adding: "we're going to bury Biden on Jan. 6."

Frankly, Friend, information like this makes me sick to my stomach – and it's all the more reason why Congress must uncover the full truth behind Jan. 6 and hold any and all perpetrators accountable, no matter what levers of power they hold. Because if we don't, we risk Donald Trump and his allies once again controlling the levers of our Democratic institutions. We cannot let that happen.
