The Trump administration never stops trying to take food from the hungry… but with public pressure, we’re making progress to stop this!
On July 24, 2019, the administration announced its latest plan to disqualify three million Americans from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as food stamps), this time by taking away states' ability to expand eligibility rules beyond narrow federal limits.
The public comment period ended with almost 130,000 comments on September 23rd - but under recent public scrutiny, the USDA has re-opened the public comment period on this policy until November 1st.
Please comment directly ([link removed][UNIQID]) on the proposed change with your own original comment in your own words. Well-informed, original public comment can help stop bad policy—the administration must address every point made, and arguments made and facts cited in public comments can be cited in court briefs. Public comment works—let’s keep doing it!

We wrote a lot of postcards… again! It was another fun, successful Pints & Postcards - we got through a stack of letters to Georgia, a key state in the upcoming elections. A couple new folks joined who are excited to come back. Have you joined us at Standard Deviant Brewing to kick back with a beverage and write letters to voters? Your next chance is Sunday, November 3rd!
Indivisible SF signs on to San Francisco Resolution to Protect Asylum Seekers. As part of a broad coalition of immigration rights organizers, Indivisible SF supports a Resolution affirming the city’s commitment to asylum-seeking residents, and condemns the federal government’s decision to undermine asylum protections for survivors of domestic violence. In June 2018, then-AG Jeff Sessions issued a cruel decision in Matter of A-B-, an asylum case involving a domestic violence survivor. The decision states that domestic violence is not a basis for asylum. Immigration organizers in the Bay Area have asked the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco to issue a resolution condemning this decision and committing to the protection of asylum seekers. Hilary Ronen has agreed to take up the resolution. We are proud to be part of this effort.
