John,
The photos of delivery workers pushing e-bikes through calf high water on the night that Hurricane Ida flooded our neighborhoods were infuriating.
More infuriating still? The fact that delivery companies have made billions during the pandemic while their workers risked their lives for as little as $5 a trip.
A new report shows that New York City delivery workers are barely making half of NYC's hourly minimum wage.
That's why I've been working with Los Deliveristas Unidos to win a vote on our Delivery Worker Minimum Pay Bill – to guarantee delivery workers make a living wage. I think we have a good shot at passing it, but we need all hands on deck.
That’s why we need your help. Show your support and help build momentum by retweeting this now.
The more voices we have pushing for this vital law, the more likely we can withstand the backlash from gig economy corporations -- who know that their business model is built on exploitation of their workers. We can change that.
With hope,
Brad
