I wanted to shoot you a quick email and warn you that over the next few days you may be receiving a few more emails than usual from my team, but PLEASE don’t ignore them -- we have a good reason.

The end of this month marks the end of the FEC fundraising quarter, which means that I, and everyone else running for office, will share our fundraising numbers publicly.

I will explain more below -- but if you’re in a hurry, will you rush a $10 contribution to my FEC fundraising goal today? Please know that I wouldn’t be asking unless it was important.

FEC deadlines are a big deal because election analysts, pundits, and national Republicans will be watching my fundraising numbers very closely for signs of any potential weakness.

And if they do sense weakness, you can bet a flood of outside spending and dark money will flow into IL-06 and the attack ads will follow.

So, we’re going to be emailing a bit more frequently this week in an effort to get our fundraising numbers up -- right now, we’re $17,678 behind.
