At VoteVets, our goal has always been to act in the best interest of veterans and to speak up when the wellbeing of our troops, veterans and American values are at stake.

That’s why we’ve been supportive of President Biden and the withdrawal from Afghanistan since day one.

But right now, we’re at a critical moment where disinformation about the withdrawal is at an all-time high. The Right is spreading lies about the withdrawal because the truth is too damaging for their pro-war platform.

VoteVets is doing everything in our power to fight disinformation in the media and set the record straight for the sake of our democracy. On top of that, we have a very important FEC fundraising deadline at the end of this month, so the stakes couldn’t be higher. That’s why I have to ask:

There were tweets showing the Taliban with tanks. Disinformation spread quickly that they were American tanks seized by the Taliban, when in fact they were old Soviet-era tanks that are no longer functional. So that was a lie.

Right-wing media also claimed our military left behind working dogs in Afghanistan and shared misleading images to back up their story. But it wasn’t true. We didn’t leave behind a single working dog.

Anything you can pitch in will help us continue the fight against these and other dangerous lies. This is important, so thank you in advance for whatever you can afford to give.
