John,

My name’s Cam Weber and I’m Brady’s Federal Policy Manager. I joined our policy team this year and I haven’t stopped fighting for change since my first day on the job. With President Biden in office, we are finally seeing steps being taken to prevent gun violence on a national level, but we need to make sure that Congress finally takes action to support these lifesaving measures.
Biden proposed his Build Back Better Act earlier this year, which includes an investment of $5 billion in communities across the nation, supporting community violence intervention (CVI) strategies that are proven to break the cycles of gun violence and save lives. This investment could mean the difference between remembering cities for the actions its citizens took to save lives, instead of the tragedy that befell them in the midst of a gun violence epidemic – and Congress only has one week left to take action.
John, this is a real opportunity to save lives from gun violence. But, in order for this investment to become a reality, we need Congress to take action to support it. So, I need your help: Can you send a message to your members of Congress right now and urge them to support this critical funding?
CVI models have been implemented in cities where they have been proven to be effective in saving lives and this critical investment will empower local, on-the-ground organizations to offer critical social services to community members, helping prevent gun violence through an evidence-based, public health approach. Biden’s proposed $5 billion investment will help break vicious cycles of gun violence that disproportionately affect Black and Brown communities.
We know this funding is going to save lives, but Congress only has one week left to make it a reality: Can I count on you to send a message to your representative right now and urge them to support the $5 billion investment in our communities? Together, we can save countless lives from gun violence and save communities from tragedy.
I am so thankful for your support on this. The policy team is fighting tirelessly to urge further action on gun violence from Congress and the White House, and with your support, I know we’re going to make progress and save lives.
Thank you.
Cam Weber
