I spent last winter with other organizers occupying empty buildings to get housing for homeless people.

With the federal eviction moratorium having expired, millions of people are at risk of eviction. An eviction tidal wave is coming, and Congress isn’t taking it seriously — even though it’s much easier to prevent homelessness than to get someone out of homelessness once they’re in it.

That’s why we need a bold, national housing program that guarantees housing by:

Building 12 million social housing units.
Enacting a vacancy tax on empty homes.
Ending land/real estate speculation and de-commodifying housing.
Enacting national rent control.
Furthering the Green New Deal through the construction/rehabbing of green homes.
