Earlier this month, I sent you a message right before the Supreme Court allowed Texas’ six week abortion ban to go into effect.
I was outraged.
I was scared and heartbroken for everyone, especially the most vulnerable people in our community, whose health and wellbeing will be put at risk by this ban and others like it. The future of reproductive health care is at severe risk.
The thought that millions of people may wake up one day in the not too distant future without legally protected reproductive autonomy terrifies me.
But over the past few weeks, there’s one thing that’s helped me continue to fight: the thousands of people who have taken action, gotten involved, and fought back against these restrictive bans on our reproductive rights.
And that includes Democratic Attorneys General who have done unbelievable work in the past two weeks, filing legal brief after legal brief in courts across the country to fight for safe and affordable abortion access.
Democratic AGs have been on the frontlines of this battle – just last year, the Supreme Court sided with abortion rights activists and the coalition of Dem AGs that fought against Louisiana Republicans’ attempts to restrict safe access to abortions.
This year, Dem AGs have gotten involved in and out of the courtroom to protect our rights and access to reproductive health care.
There’s a lot more work to be done -- but trust me, Dem AGs won’t stop doing everything they can to protect reproductive health. But they need our help, friend.
Republicans have spent millions on judicial nominations and AG races to help advance their extremist anti-choice agenda. That’s why we need our passionate supporters like you to keep fighting, friend.
