** Healthcare workers are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, they go above and beyond to keep our community safe.
------------------------------------------------------------
They help people experiencing homelessness stay safe through testing sites, providing vaccinations and working with partners to meet people where they are. The last year has been challenging in ways that are hard to comprehend and ACEH appreciates all that healthcare workers have done.
Thank you, our work is possible because of caregivers like you.

** Family Emergency Shelter Update
------------------------------------------------------------
Families that are unsheltered are encouraged to call 2-1-1. From there they will be given a referral to either Safe Harbor or Clare House depending on vacancies. If those are filled the family will get a referral to the Aviator Hotel.
We know that this is not ideal, but it is a temporary solution to help families in need.

** FFY 2021 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)
------------------------------------------------------------
ACEH is the HUD designated Continuum of Care (CoC) for the Municipality of Anchorage. Each year ACEH coordinates the submission of project and collaborative applications to fund organizational and partner programs through a competitive grant process. These grants fund the permanent and temporary housing programs in Anchorage and the coordination work done by ACEH to promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; support existing projects through renewal applications; and provide an opportunity to non-profits to request funding for new projects. We affectionately call this HUD Notification of Funding Opportunities process.

** Emergency Rent Relief Continues for Alaskans
------------------------------------------------------------
A recent Wall Street Journal ([link removed]) report showed that Alaska, via Alaska Housing Rent Relief, is among the top five states in the nation in delivery of funds, with payments going directly to landlords and utility companies. Alaska renters were among the first to be approved for assistance.
To date, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, collaborating with its trusted statewide partners, has distributed more than $120 million in federal rent relief funds ([link removed]) to landlords and utility companies to the benefit of more than 50,000 Alaska residents.
Despite these successes, many Alaska renters continue to experience financial hardships related to the pandemic. For Alaska renters currently facing these anxieties, a new Rent Relief application window opened ([link removed]) Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2021 and will close Oct. 1, 2021. An online eligibility checker at AlaskaHousingRelief.org ([link removed]) streamlines the process and makes it easy to quickly verify eligibility and apply for payments to be issued to landlords.

House America leverages American Rescue Plan and other federal resources to immediately re-house and build additional housing for people experiencing homelessness.

** Case Conferencing and Coordinated Entry (CE) Training
------------------------------------------------------------
If you have any questions, or are interested in coordinated entry access point ([link removed]) training for you or your team, please contact Mac Lyons at:

[email protected]?subject=o%09Case%20Conferencing%20Meetings%20%26%20Coordinated%20Entry%20Access%20Point%20Training)
What is CE? CE is a triage process to connect individuals experiencing homelessness to necessary resources. It is a federally mandated program that recognizes communities rarely have enough resources.
There are three main goals of CE: prioritize the most vulnerable, streamline the experience for providers and unsheltered people, and provide data to inform decisions regarding the structure of and need for services.
