Help join the fight to pass landmark voting rights legislation.
UPDATE: PROTECT DEMOCRACY
Dear John,
Last week we reported on the dangerous voter suppression bill Texas Gov. Greg Abbot signed into law. And as states begin to draw their voting maps, we expect entrenched political parties to do all they can to deny communities of color fair representation. There’s a lot on the line.
But today we have good news: For the first time in a long time, real, meaningful voting rights legislation is possible.
The Freedom to Vote Act is the successor to the For the People Act, a voter protection bill we championed that was blocked by Republicans this summer. This new act would set national standards to protect the freedom to vote, end partisan redistricting, ensure sound election administration, and fix our broken campaign finance system. It would be the most comprehensive democracy reform law enacted in decades.
This bill has real momentum. Senators and members of Congress from across the country are speaking out and joining our fight, including Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Ro Khanna, and even Sen. Joe Manchin. With midterms rapidly approaching and congressional redistricting under way as we speak, the time to act is NOW.
But we need your help. Can you donate and help us tell Congress that millions of Americans are standing behind the Freedom to Vote Act?
