John,

This is the Supreme Court case that we have been dreading for years, especially with a conservative Court. I’m not exaggerating when I say this decision could make the NRA’s dreams come true.
The gun lobby is pushing for a Constitutional right to carry handguns in public spaces to use in “armed confrontation” — in other words, to shoot people when they choose to. That’s why we filed a brief to stand on the side of the American people, and defend our right not to be shot.
It's more important than ever to have your support at this moment. That’s why I am asking you to support our fight for the right to live and the right not to be shot. Brady lawyers have filed their amicus briefs, but will you sign a “People’s Amicus Brief” right now and show the Supreme Court that Americans want their right to live protected? The “People’s Brief” won’t be filed in court, but we’ll make it known to the Justices that people like you want them to protect our gun laws.
Make no mistake, Americans’ most fundamental right – the right to live – is at stake in this case, as is the most fundamental duty of government — to protect people. We cannot accept a future where the interests of extremist members of the gun lobby and the profits of the gun industry are put above the safety of our fellow citizens.
This case is the result of a decades-long effort by the gun lobby to undo any and all common-sense laws that protect Americans from the threat of gun violence, wrapped in an ahistorical interpretation of the Second Amendment that would absolutely confound Framers and generations of American legal experts. Really, this has nothing to do with a proper reading of the Constitution and everything to do with gun industry profits.
The NRA is representing itself, and we’re urgently asking the court to consider the American people. Please, will you join us as we urge the Supreme Court to act in the interest of our country?
It is critical that the Supreme Court reject the NRA’s “guns everywhere” agenda and protect our right to live. Sign onto the People’s Amicus Brief today and urge the Supreme Court act in the interest of all Americans.
Thank you.
