Gov. Reynolds praises Trump for helping Iowans. (Photo credit: Evan Vucci)
It wasn't too long ago that near the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,
Kim Reynolds praised Trump for "helping Iowans."
6,401 Iowans have died from COVID, partially because Trump denied the science and undermined our pandemic response.
Reynold's comments don't sit right with me, and with Trump coming to Iowa in just a few weeks (possibly to announce his 2024 bid), now is the perfect time to push back.
If you're fired up and ready to show Trump the strength of our movement before he comes to town, will you chip in $5 today? Here's what's at stake:
• Working families struggle to make ends meet: We need to fight for $50,000 a year -- not just $15 an hour -- so Iowans can start looking beyond the next paycheck and plan for the next generation.
• Family farmers are less likely to pass down the farm to the next generation: We can invest in climate solutions that steward our land and farms for future generations.
• Our kids and grandchildren aren't receiving the education they deserve: Public schools used to be the backbone of our communities, and the best in the country. We need to put our kids first, and get our public schools back to #1 in the nation.
I know we can do better.
Reynolds and Trump have both proved that their COVID-19 pandemic response -- not to mention the hate and division they stoke -- are not right for all Iowans. That's why I'm running for governor.
