Friends,

While I was fighting to pass the “Build Back Better Act” in the House Ways & Means Committee, I shared a personal story about how one part of this bill, paid family and medical leave, would’ve helped me when I was a young mother.

There was a time not so long ago when I wasn’t afforded paid leave at my job. I had to go back to work much earlier than I would have liked to with my children, and I recall being in a bathroom stall pumping breast milk while my children were under 2 months old. I used my lunch break to do that so I could provide my baby with what I believed was the healthiest option.

Not having the support from my employer with leave meant I wasn’t able to stay home. I was a stressed employee and I’m sure I wasn’t able to produce my best at that time. I share this story because I know this legislation is going to have life-changing impacts for children, mothers and families all across the country who are in the same position I was not that long ago.

In order to get this passed and on to President Biden’s desk, we need to get every single Democrat on board! Will you please add your name to this petition and tell Congress we cannot wait for paid family and medical leave? [[link removed]]
