Friend,
A recap, since it's been a busy few months:
Earlier this summer, the Senate passed a bipartisan infrastructure deal (that does little on climate). Then, the Senate began working on a robust reconciliation package that centers climate action. Both are in the House now, and their fates are tied up in each other.
To deliver on the climate agenda Biden (and many congressional Democrats) ran and won on, the House needs to deliver the climate-focused reconciliation package and the bipartisan infrastructure deal together, as they promised.
The clock is running out: The House has scheduled a vote on only the bipartisan infrastructure deal Monday, so they need to hear from you today.
Take Evergreen Action today (for those following along at home, this is action #2 of the substantive climate actions we're urging you to take this month): Send a letter to your rep in Congress, demanding they pass the climate-focused reconciliation package alongside the bipartisan infrastructure deal. We wrote a script for you, so this'll just take one minute to send!
With our first climate president in the White House, plus narrow Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, this is the best shot we've had in a decade to take bold climate action. (And with midterms in just a year, it may be one of the last chances we have for a long time.)
So let's keep up the drumbeat: No climate, no deal. The House must vote on the budget reconciliation package and the infrastructure deal together.
And with a vote scheduled for the infrastructure deal on Monday, today is the day your representative needs to hear from you: Take one minute to send a letter now so your representative knows where you stand on climate action. (We've included a script for you, so this will be as easy as the click of a button to send. Plus, they really do read your messages!)
Thanks for taking action with us!
