Dear John,
As someone who has had an abortion, I’m still reeling from the last few weeks. The abortion law in Texas bans abortion for almost everyone. The Supreme Court has chosen not to step in, forcing clinics to stop almost all abortion services. Access to abortion is already challenging for so many, especially young people - and extremist anti-abortion politicians are intent on making it as hard as possible.
TOMORROW, Congress will vote on WHPA, a bill to expand abortion access across the country. They need to hear from you now.
Tell Congress to pass WHPA and help expand abortion access nationwide.
When I got my abortion, I was a newly single mother dealing with emotional trauma, financial pressures, and just trying to keep my family safe and cared for. It was a tough situation. It’s angering, and frightening, to think about what I would have had to do if this law had existed when I needed abortion care. No one should have to go through that.
We need to do anything and everything we can to ensure everyone has access to abortion care. Tell Congress to pass WHPA NOW.
WHPA, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would prohibit states from imposing onerous restrictions, much like the bills we're seeing passed all across the nation, including the recently-enacted SB8 in Texas, the most restrictive abortion law in the country.
In order to thrive, young people need the full spectrum of reproductive health care - from sex education, to contraception, to health care services, to prenatal care and supported parenting, to abortion access. Health care is a right, and we can’t let these attacks continue.
Let Congress know you won't let abortion access be stolen away by extremists.
Sincerely,
Debra Hauser
