John, Texas just crossed a line.
Now I could be talking about one of the many laws that went into effect on September 1, but there’s one new law that I feel has been flying under the radar: Texas’ new “permitless carry” law.
As of the beginning of this month, anyone who legally owns a gun in Texas will be allowed to carry it openly, without any kind of permit or license.
This is a huge step backwards, and it puts both the public and law enforcement officials in danger.
We can’t afford to have “permitless carry” laws pop up in other states. Will you add your name to my petition to urge Congress to implement common sense gun safety laws at the federal level?
I’ve met the families of victims and countless other Californians whose lives have been changed by gun violence, and I know that this step backwards is like a slap in the face to them.
I’m calling on Congress to pass common sense gun legislation on a federal level, so we can put a stop to the epidemic of gun violence in our country, not enable it. Will you add your voice by signing on to this petition? >>
Thank you for your support,
Eric
