Dear Friends,

It was such an honor for the National Constitution Center to award the 2021 Liberty Medal to Loujain al-Hathloul and Jimmy Lai for their courage and conviction in exercising the fundamental rights of freedom of speech, nonviolent resistance, and peaceful dissent. The video ceremony featured remarks from Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times, Jason Rezaian of The Washington Post, and Trudy Rubin of The Philadelphia Inquirer, in addition to acceptance speeches on behalf of the recipients by Lina al-Hathloul, the sister of Loujain, and Ambassador James B. Cunningham, the former consul general to Hong Kong and Macau.

Please watch this inspiring video and learn about their heroic struggles for liberty in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and around the globe.

With appreciation,

Jeff
