Friend,
This is what it looks like for a Congresswoman to fight for her community and for our progressive values:
The past two weekends, Rashida has been door knocking, ensuring residents who’ve been impacted by flooding and power outages have the resources they need. This summer, Rashida and our team have contacted nearly 100,000 residents through texts, calls, door-knocks, and mailers.
Here’s a look at Rashida with volunteers from this past Sunday:
Rashida is also bringing critical resources into our district―the third poorest congressional district in the country.
Rashida recently secured $2.5 million for construction of a senior wellness center in Inkster. Here’s Rashida with folks from the Inkster Senior Resource Center:
But that’s not all! Rashida helped bring $2 million to the Boys and Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan in Highland Park to empower young people.
She helped secure nearly $1.8 million for Eastside Community Network as they advocate for public health in the east side of the district.
She secured $2 million for Urban Neighborhood Initiatives to address the climate crisis and to provide residents with portable Internet kits during natural disasters.
Rashida helped bring $1 million to the Ruth Ellis Center, which provides trauma-informed services for LGBTQ+ young people—with an emphasis on young people of color, and young people experiencing homelessness or in the child welfare system.
She brought $1 million to ProsperUS Detroit, an organization that provides micro-lending support and small business development in Michigan's 13th district.
In addition, Rashida secured $2 million to repair homes for our residents, nearly $1.7 million to help address flooding in Dearborn Heights, $850,000 for a Wayne-Westland career readiness system, and $550,000 to the City of Wayne to rehab a community space for residents and families.
There's more. Recently, Rashida successfully secured $7.5 billion in the reconciliation resolution for the Restoring Local Communities Act that helps provide home repair grants and supports neighborhood revitalization.
Rashida remains firmly rooted in our majority-Black community, fighting for the needs of her constituents.
With Michigan losing one congressional seat in the 2022 election, we need to ensure Rashida has the resources to fight back against relentless attacks and win!
